![]() One aspect where the body-on-frame construction excels is with towing and hauling capacity. However, this construction method has fallen out of favor and is employed chiefly in heavy-duty vehicles and trucks. Full SUVs have a “body-on-frame” construction, meaning every structural component is attached to a metal frame, aka chassis. But as mentioned, the real difference lies with the frame construction. True or full SUVs are generally larger than a typical crossover with more bulk and power. SUVs can be relatively good at everything from being fast and agile to carrying more passengers to towing heavy loads. An SUV stands for a sport utility vehicle, which is basically a vehicle designed to handle varied environments and driving conditions. This is because crossover SUVs were generally derivative from car platforms, so they tend to have more car-like road manners and are easier to drive. Today, car makers commonly use unibody construction for several benefits, including optimal cargo and passenger space, smaller size, and lightweight. With the advent of crossover SUVs, it’s not just riding comfort that was brought onto the table but improved handling as well. In the past, when SUVs became the de-facto family vehicle, drivers didn’t mind the somewhat rugged riding experience. Simply put, if you merge a car chassis with a scaled-down SUV body, you get a crossover. This unibody construction is the primary difference from an SUV with body-on-frame construction. But it’s worth noting that a full SUV differs from a crossover.Ī crossover SUV comes with a “unibody” construction, which means that the body and frame are one single structure. You’ll hear people use crossovers, crossover SUVs, and compact SUVs interchangeably these days. I like to use my die grinder with small burrs, stones, and sanding drums. ![]() Gloves are a mixed bag around spinning tools, but my preference is to wear them with grinders. Also, don't forget to wear your PPE- earplugs, long sleeves, safety glasses AND a face shield is a must whenever working with a grinder. If you need a straight-shank cutoff tool, look at the link below. This tool is a lot bigger and more powerful than a little dremel tool which is why you don't see saw blades and cutoff disks designed for it as often. Grinding disks are probably the most dangerous tool in the shop (except for maybe a table saw). The way you use a die grinder will put your face in the line of fire a lot of the time too. It doesn't have a guard, which means that if the disk explodes/binds/decides to fall apart, you'll probably end up in the hospital. I'm not 100% sure why they limit the disk size, but I will say, that type of tool is not really meant for using grinding disks. What do you think of the product's 1 1/2" disc size limit? On other comparable grinders from other companies I've seen 2".is the size restriction to limit damage to the motor, or a safety advisement (in that larger discs could be more unwieldy in kick-back situations)? The 1 1/2", 25k rpm limits remove such a huge % of the available discs, I know the rpm limit isn't to be trifled with but just cannot understand why a 2" disc would be so inadvisable. Yeah after my searching for 1/4" bits yesterday I've realized it's gonna be hard finding 1/8" bits that're rated for this thing (tons of the 1/4" bits I find aren't even rated for its 25k rpm) I can't imagine that the 1/8" shank burrs would last long. I'd recommend trying to find what you need in 1/4" shank, as you can run them a lot harder and remove material much more a ton am gonna check them out now! I was about to return the unit yesterday as I was having a ton of issue finding bits for it (well, I found some cool bits but they were >$40 apiece!! Couldn't imagine paying that for a single bit w/o having ever used it, have already bought several sets of 'wrong' type attachments lol! Here's a link to one of the suppliers that I use. There are tons of 1/4" bits/burrs/grinding stones available- this tool has enough power that I've snapped some of them. I have one of these- it's probably one of my most used tools in the shop aside from the angle grinder. So I guess I'm hoping to find out if I can buy and install a 1/4" collar into this grinder, or maybe if there's some online retailer that's got a good selection of 1/4" shank bits? Am looking through home depot, lowes etc websites and there's very little available for it (fwiw, I'm using it for carving wood, am trying to use this as my 'finer/precision' tool, alongside a 4 1/2" angle grinder for larger work) I just got a new grinder that I'd messed-up in thinking it was more of a grinder (it seems more of a dremel - can't take >1 1/2" discs!) Anyways I'm on the fence about whether to keep it or not, as I'm having trouble finding a good variety of 1/4" shank attachments, it's like tools like this must be wayyy more often in 1/8" shank. There's 3 things that I would absolutely not do:ĭo not use a filler with pistol powders in rifle cases.Īlmost any fast burning pistol powder and any 100gr bullet to 230gr bullet will work. Another possible concern with long bullets in short throats is that you may engrave the bullet into the rifling and either drive it further into the case on chambering (honestly not a big deal in a case like this) or you may extract the bullet from the case and fling powder all through your action when ejecting a loaded round (very irritating). Even so there is no guarantee these bullets will stabilize in your 1:10, it would be marginal at best. Ensure that the bullet is leaving the barrel with each round if you attempt to explore with exceptionally low charges and heavy bullets and I would encourage you to avoid this if you are not experienced with cast bullets or reloading in general due to potential safety concerns. 300 BLK data should be safe but very much on the low end due to case capacity differencess. However if you can get some of the 230gr and 251gr cast bullets they are worth trying to see if you can get them to function. For my 183 gr cast bullets I tend to size the nose portion to avoid this with a NOE bullet sizer die. In my experience most savages have quite short throats and longer cast bullets can potentially be harder to chamber even if they would stabilize. You can also try some of the very heavy 308 cast bullets but your results are likely to be variable. With 8 gr titegroup they shot very very well and were super quiet. I had some flatbase 30-30 bullets that weighed 170gr. Titegroup is also surprisingly decent at this with lighter bullets. Be very careful to test for keyholing before you put your can on. I have had some issues with stability with 168 bthps in 1:10 twist barrels. Again my barrel is longer and you will potentially need to alter loads between summer and winter to stay subsonic, as you want to be very close to the sound barrier for ballistic reasons but not over. I think I started around 10.5 and had to work down to avoid a sonic crack. Reasonably accurate and as close to Hollywood quiet as you get. Out of a 24" barrel I shoot 183 gr cast bullets with (I think) 9 grains of trailboss. 22 LR RAR with the Sparrow mounted is stupid quiet with the CCI Quiet ammo (756 fps) and still very quiet with CCI subs.Supersonic is going to vary somewhat based on your location and weather conditions so it is hard to say what Supersonic will be for you. I picked up a can of Red Dot in a trade to try and work up some of the 90 grain loads but haven't found my "roundtoit" yet. The 90 XTP over 4-5 grains of Trail Boss is supposed to be stupid quiet and good on smaller animals out to 50-75 yards. I've shot the 190 Sub-X out of a suppressed RAR in 300 Blackout, quiet but not what I'm looking for. Trail Boss is impossible to find and according to Hodgdon won't make the production schedule until next year. Most recent Macbook have got Thunderbolt / USB type C slot, so you can get HDMI to Type C cable, but make sure you buy an HDMI to USB type C cable that specifically mentions it is compatible with 4K at 60Hz. If your monitor only has got a compatible HDMI 2.0 slot, then you will have to go for adaptors which will convert HDMI cable to the desired output slot available on your MacBook. If you have got an expensive monitor, which has got a thunderbolt output, it will be easy for you to connect your MacBook to the 4K display and run it at 60 Hz since thunderbolt it is compatible, and you can get them for pretty cheap prices from.
